About C4Stage

Why it exists

Most architecture diagrams are drawn for a meeting and abandoned after it. Six months later a new engineer learns the system from a picture of a system that no longer exists, and an incident call opens with twenty minutes of working out what talks to what. The problem was never drawing the architecture. It was keeping the drawing true.

C4Stage makes updating the diagram cheap, because your own AI or the built-in assistant does most of the drawing. It makes the diagram worth opening every day, because live status, request flows, reviews and comments live on it. And it makes every change reviewable, because every save is a version and any two versions diff on the canvas. A diagram people use is a diagram people keep right.

Your code stays with you

C4Stage never connects to a repository and never receives source code. When Claude Code or another MCP client draws a canvas, it reads the code on your machine and sends only the drawing: nodes, edges, flows, tags and health URLs. Health checks run from our servers against the public URLs you choose, and nothing you configure is shown to other visitors. The security page describes the rest.

Who builds it

C4Stage is built in Toronto, Canada by Akram Merouani, a software architect who kept finding that the diagram was wrong by the time the meeting ended. It is a founder-run company: a question about the product reaches the person who wrote it.
