Edges & routing

An edge carries a label (what happens: “books via”, “reads the ledger”) and an optional tech line (how: “HTTPS / JSON”, “Kafka”). Several edges between the same two nodes bundle into one line that fans its labels. Two viewing preferences live in the toolbar and controls: edge labels — compact (trimmed) or full text — and the global edge style, curved / straight / step. Routing below is per-edge and saved in the model.

An edge carries a label (what happens) and a technology (how). Click an edge to focus it — both ends light up and the rest of the room dims.

Taking control of one edge

  • In edit mode, select an edge: three grips appear — one on each endpoint, one at the middle.
  • Drag an endpoint grip to a different face of its node to pin which side the edge leaves or enters from.
  • Drag the middle grip to bow the edge around whatever is in the way. The bend keeps its shape as nodes move.
  • Double-click the middle grip to clear the bend and let the edge route itself again.

Routing is layout, not meaning — like node positions, it never shows up as a change in the diff view.
