Reading the canvas

Nodes

Boxes are typed: actor, system, container, component, datastore — plus an external flag for things you don't own. A node holding children shows a child-count chip; click it to expand the node in place and go a level deeper. Its own collapse button (top right of the expanded box) walks it back up, one level at a time — or jump straight to the top with Collapse everything in the command palette. Nesting has no depth limit: systems hold containers, which hold components.

Moving around

• Scroll with two fingers to pan in any direction; pinch to zoom. Hold Space and drag to pan from anywhere, even over nodes.
• The controls (bottom left) zoom, fit the view, re-run the automatic layout, cycle the edge style — curved → straight → step — and write a quick PNG. Help, getting started and shortcuts and the legend sit just above them.
• ⌘K, or the Commands pill, opens the command palette — jump to any node, canvas or flow. Jumping auto-expands the ancestors it needs.
• Single-click selects a node and highlights its edges. Single-click an edge to focus it — the edge and its endpoints pop, everything else dims. Esc or a click on empty canvas clears.

Deep links

The URL always reflects the view — canvas, expanded nodes, selection, flow and step, tag filters, and whether you are on the diagram or the sequence. The Copy link pill in the toolbar captures exactly what you're looking at, ready to paste to a collaborator. See the reference for the parameters.
